wondering what child protection is?!!!
child protection are mechanisms put in place to prevent and respond to any forms of child abuse. every child has 4 broad categories of rights which include survival rights(things to do with food,shelter), development rights like attaining education,protection rights and participation rights.these rights are violated everyday in our communities like sexual harassment,child traficking,child labour and exploitation,physical torture,emotional torture like abusing them.most parents are silent and feel its normal but it has to stop.its me and you to take a lead in ensuring our children reach to their full potentials in life.our children need to have a holistic development and that is the position #Initiatives committed to.

WHICH PROJECT CAN HELP WOMEN COME OUT OF POVERTY WHILE THEY ENGAGE IN OTHER VENTURES WITHIN THEIR SAVING GROUPS.

Did you know that having a revolving goat project can make a difference in the community especially for women. selected vulnerable members of a group can receive the first set of goats which are called first generation. These members are supposed to take good care of the goats until time when they give birth to the second generation which is then handed over to the next group members. Incase a goat in the first generation produces a he goat, then it must be sold off with the consent of all group member and a female goat is purchased as a replacement and handed over to the next beneficiary. Upon handing over the second generation goat to a new member then the receiver of the first generation(first beneficiary) officially owns that goat and the rest of the kids produced become hers. In cases where one goat produces twins or triplets then it serves as an advantage to the group members to receive goats without necessarily waiting for the next generation. This cycle shall be repeated until all group members have goats. with the goats, they can enjoy the milk, they can sell when they accumulate and they also use their wastes which are full of manure.
Note
A clear documentation should be made on who is supposed to be the receiver of the first generation goats. And possibly random sampling can be used to predetermine beneficiaries.

Elgon child watch initiatives -Uganda is also having project which aim at improving the SRHR of the youth through sensitization and awareness campaigns.we involve peer educators,local governments structures,health practitioners, clan leaders and many others. Due the increased unwanted pregnancies leading to high school drop out, Elgon child watch initiatives has started a program targeting all adolescent girls at risk of early marriages by engaging religious leaders in the massive sensitization. 2 out of every 10 girls in secondary education have aborted due to unwanted pregnacies and the 6 are highly exposed to the risk due to unsafe sex.

As we all know child abuse has become a rampant problem in the ELGON zone for example sexual abuse characterized with early pregnancies,early marriages, abortions and others, child trafficking, child exploitation, physical and emotional abuse.So ECWI-U looks for lasting solutions to put all these to a hault.
